The Avenue is a shopping centre on Commercial Road, Bournemouth, being repositioned as a place where local independents mix with bigger brands such as Sports Direct, HMV, The Perfume Shop and The Works. Four smaller spaces have been created specifically for smaller independents, in line with the centre's sustainable aspirations. Plans include a combined coffee shop and bike repair shop providing the only covered cafe in the town centre, offices, event spaces, a giant TV screen for public screenings and, in due course, a rooftop bar and places to live.
