The Porterhouse is a pub at 113 Poole Road, Westbourne, Bournemouth. Long before it was a drinking establishment the premises were owned by C Dales, a photography business and also a watchmaker, jeweller, optician and electrical engineer. Around 1978 to 1980 it opened as a wine bar called Valentinos with a cellar disco bar, then was granted a licence for beers, wines and spirits and renamed the Old Thumper, a traditional wood-panelled one bar local taken over by Ringwood Brewery. It retains a wooden floor and oak panelling and has a gallery and a what's on page.
