The White Horse

The White Horse at Ampfield is a village pub and eating house on the A3090, the main road between Winchester and Romsey, with parts of the building dating back to the 16th century and roots as a pilgrims' inn. Two large Inglenook open fires with smoking chambers and a priest hole heat the bar areas; the locals bar has a dart board, crib and no background music, while the lounge bar can seat up to 40. A large garden overlooks the Hampshire downs and meadows, next to the village cricket ground, the recreation area and an 18 hole par 3 golf course, with parking in front of and behind the pub.
