PureGym opened its first gym in Leeds in 2009 and has grown to more than 700 gyms and over two million members, offering 24 hour gym memberships with no contract. It deliberately leaves out extras such as pools and cafes, focusing instead on equipment, gym space and a welcome at the door, and frames its offer around feeling good in body and mind rather than physical fitness alone.
