Nationwide Building Society is owned by its members rather than shareholders - anyone who banks, saves or holds a mortgage with it - which it describes as its fundamental difference. It offers current accounts, savings and ISAs, mortgages, loans, credit cards, insurance and investments, with internet banking and an app used by over 7 million people. It gives 1% of its pre-tax profits to charitable activities, and its Branch Promise commits it to keeping all of its branches open until at least the start of 2030.
